About the Song

When suffering is inevitable, strength is required. For those that demonstrate courage well beyond their years, we grieve for their innocence but celebrate their resilience. Brave was a one-word story when the words were impossible to find.

Lyrics

Kids in the backyard
playing in the street
she sits by the window with no thoughts of jealousy
it won’t be easy
to sidestep the doubt
you’ll want to run into the fire and carry her out

and if you need to cry that’d be ok
i’m sure it’s as hard for you to hear as for me to say
i know you’ll get by in your own way
and that you’re far too young to have to be this brave

I know you’ll want answers
and i won’t have enough
life gets so crazy
it’s hard to adjust
but it’s not love that’s holding you back
you don’t have to lead, you just have to last
and if you need to cry that’d be ok
i’m sure it’s as hard for you to hear as for me to say
but i know you’ll get by in your own way
and that you’re far too young to have to be this brave

I feel like I’m running in place
wishing that this was just a phase
but my love we gotta be brave

and if you need to cry that’d be ok
i’m sure it’s as hard for you to hear as for me to say
i know you’ll get by in your own way
and that you’re far too young to have to be this brave

far too young to have to be this brave
